KAREN KNORR

Born in Frankfurt am Main, Germany (1954), raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and educated in Paris and London, Karen Knorr developed a critical and playful dialogue in documentary photography to explore subjects ranging from the family and lifestyle to the animal and its representation in the museum context. She is a Professor of Photography at the UCA Farnham, Surrey. Awarded a National Endowment of the Arts Award in 1986; nominated for Deutsche Börse Photography Prize in 2011 and 2012, and Prix Pictet in 2012, her work is included London’s Tate Gallery and the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris.
